Inaugural Half Marathon to Benefit Susan G. Komen’s® Marathon for the Cure® program

Dallas, TX – November 30, 2009 – The Competitor Group, Inc. today announced a new partnership with Susan G. Komen for the Cure® as the official national charity of the inaugural Rock ‘n’ Roll Dallas Half Marathon. The event will take place Sunday, March 14, 2010 and will be named the Rock ‘n’ Roll Dallas Half Marathon benefiting Susan G. Komen for the Cure®.

With global headquarters in Dallas, Texas, Susan G. Komen for the Cure is the world’s largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and advocates dedicated to discovering and delivering the cures.  Through the Marathon for the Cure® program long-distance runners and walkers can join the fight against breast cancer by participating in events like the Rock ‘n’ Roll Dallas Half Marathon.  Funds raised through the program support groundbreaking research and community outreach in the more than 18,000 communities Komen and its Affiliates serve in the U.S. and around the world.

According to the Charity Director of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series, Dave Hussa, Komen’s distinction as the Official Charity Beneficiary of the event serves to elevate the existing partnership between the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series and the Marathon for the Cure® program.

“The Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series has a successful history of support for Susan G. Komen, evident by our participants’ enthusiasm for the organization and their support of the Marathon for the Cure program at other events,” said Hussa. “Our goal is to help the program expand its reach nationally and help Komen for the Cure take another step toward saving lives and ending breast cancer forever.”
